Dawn Of The Dunes

On my first photographic trip to the Lancelin sand dunes one afternoon, I captured a shot very similar to this as I was leaving however was not completely satisfied. I returned that weekend to photograph the dunes this time at sunrise. The glow of the sun that is yet to rise is very evident while some stars were still visible in the sky. I really wanted to captured a new perspective of these dunes and create something quite surreal. It was a 4:30am start in conditions that were a lot colder than I was expecting, but it was well worth it. The vision I had came to life. Lancelin is a small town located an hour and a half drive North of Perth, Western Australia. The dunes are popular among tourists and locals for sand boarding, motorbiking and general site seeing. Capturing them with not a person in sight, under these conditions sure was sweet!
