Calm Amongst The Chaos

Sand dunes are a favourite subject of mine to photograph. The possibilities are endless. Because sand dunes are forever evolving it allows the same dune system to present new opportunities each time I visit. Different weather, light, and formations makes them feel like a completely new location. This particular sunrise was an incredible shoot. The sun was low and the wind was high. Strong winds in sand dunes is always exciting. The atmosphere created by the sand being whipped into the air takes the scene to a new place. It is hard to shoot in these conditions though… particularly if you don’t have any goggles on. My eyes were in pain. A constant stream of tears running down my face trying to clear the sand from my eyes made it difficult to keep them open. But it was all worth it!
