Before You Arrived

My first long awaited visit to photograph Karijini National Park a year prior, left me frustrated and incredibly eager to return. That first trip saw 4 days of straight rain kill any chance of reflected light in the gorges, only clearing for the final 2 mornings. So on this particular trip I was able to see the park in a whole new light. Karijini is in Western Australia’s Pilbara region and is an absolute jewel in an otherwise desert environment. This time I spent 10 days by myself, on the road camping and exploring this spectacular place. The 15 hour drive from Perth was a great experience. I thought the dry lakes that reach to the horizon may bore me however it was just so unique and really quite a site!
